Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX j-200S NEO is the current-generation dual-spindle update to Mazak's value multi-tasking platform, combining the j-200S's done-in-one capability with SmoothAi control and substantially improved spindle options. The second spindle is a built-in motor design equivalent to the main spindle, enabling automatic part transfer and continuous machining of both part ends.

The j-200S NEO uses an 8-inch chuck with 500 mm (19.69 in) max machining diameter and 910 mm (35.83 in) max machining length. Available in standard and high-performance specifications: the standard milling spindle runs 12,000 RPM at 7.5 kW (10 hp) with 27.5 Nm, while the HP spec doubles output to 18.5 kW (25 hp) with 57.3 Nm. Main spindle options similarly scale from 15 kW/167 Nm standard to 18.5 kW/326 Nm high-performance.

The critical B-axis improvement: standard indexes at 1-degree (improved from the original j-200S's 5-degree), while the high-performance specification provides 0.0001-degree continuous positioning. The HP j-200S NEO effectively delivers i-Series multi-tasking capability with done-in-one processing at a j-Series price point.

New machines start around $240,000 for standard spec and run $300,000-$320,000 for high-performance with full options. MAZATROL SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield provides the same control platform as machines costing twice as much. Specs confirmed from Mazak published data.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • HP spec with 0.0001-degree continuous B-axis and dual spindles delivers i-Series done-in-one at j-Series price
  • Built-in motor sub-spindle enables complete front-and-back machining without refixturing
  • Standard and HP options let shops match investment to need: 7.5 kW or 18.5 kW milling
  • SmoothAi control identical to i-NEO ensures training and programming transfer between platforms
  • HP main spindle at 326 Nm provides serious turning torque for demanding 8-inch chuck work
  • Most affordable current-gen INTEGREX with both SmoothAi and dual-spindle capability

Limitations

  • Standard 7.5 kW milling spindle is weak for serious milling; HP upgrade almost mandatory for steel work
  • 500 mm max diameter is smaller than i-200S's 658 mm envelope
  • 20-tool standard fills quickly with both first-op and second-op tooling; 36/72-tool upgrade essential
  • Standard 1-degree B-axis does not offer continuous positioning; must specify HP for full capability
  • Part transfer between spindles adds programming complexity versus single-spindle operation

Best For

Shops wanting done-in-one multi-tasking with continuous B-axis at lowest possible INTEGREX investment Manufacturers running parts needing both-end machining currently processed across two machines Production shops running 8-inch bar work where front and back features are machined in one cycle Job shops upgrading from live-tooling twin-spindle lathes to proper multi-tasking with milling spindle Companies wanting HP spec i-Series equivalent capability with dual spindles at $100K+ savings vs i-200S NEO

Frequently Asked Questions

01 j-200S NEO cost?

Standard starts around $240K. HP spec $280K-$300K. Fully configured HP j-200S NEO with 72-tool magazine runs $300K-$320K.

02 Standard vs high-performance?

Milling jumps from 7.5 kW/27.5 Nm to 18.5 kW/57.3 Nm. B-axis from 1-degree index to 0.0001-degree continuous. Main spindle from 15 kW/167 Nm to 18.5 kW/326 Nm. HP essentially delivers i-Series capability in a j-Series dual-spindle package.

03 j-200S NEO vs i-200S NEO?

HP j-200S NEO has similar continuous B-axis and dual spindles at lower price, but i-200S NEO has larger envelope (658 vs 500 mm diameter), more Y-axis travel, and higher standard milling power. Save $80K-$120K with HP j-200S NEO if parts fit.

04 j-200S NEO vs original j-200S?

NEO adds SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield, improves B-axis from 5-degree to 1-degree standard, introduces HP spec with continuous positioning, and higher-power spindle options. Significant upgrade for new purchases.
