Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX i-200S NEO is the sub-spindle variant of the NEO-generation i-200, combining an 8-inch main chuck with a programmable second spindle for complete done-in-one processing. The i-200S NEO brings all NEO upgrades: MAZATROL SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield, redesigned compact milling head, and front-mounted tool magazine.

The i-200S NEO accommodates a maximum machining diameter of 600 mm (23.62 in) and machining length of 850 mm (33.46 in). Bar capacity is 65 mm (2.56 in). The main spindle delivers 22 kW (30 hp) at 5,000 RPM, while the sub-spindle provides 15 kW (20 hp) at 5,000 RPM. The milling spindle operates at 12,000 RPM standard (20,000 RPM optional) through HSK-A63 with 18.5 kW (25 hp).

The B-axis swings 240 degrees with 0.0001-degree resolution. The Y-axis provides 210 mm (8.27 in). The sub-spindle enables automatic part transfer for back-face machining without operator intervention.

The Ai Thermal Shield is particularly valuable on the S variant, where long done-in-one cycles benefit from real-time thermal compensation.

The i-200S NEO competes with the DMG Mori NTX 2000, Okuma Multus B250II with sub-spindle, and Nakamura-Tome Super NTX. New machines price between $370,000 and $500,000.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Sub-spindle enables complete done-in-one processing with Ai Thermal Shield maintaining accuracy
  • HSK-A63 milling spindle at 18.5 kW delivers full machining center capability for complex milling on both faces
  • 65 mm bar capacity covers mid-range production bar stock for aerospace, medical, and precision manufacturing
  • NEO compact milling head expands effective work envelope vs previous i-200S generations
  • Front-mounted tool magazine with up to 110 tools supports complex done-in-one parts
  • Mazak install base and North American manufacturing ensure parts availability and service

Limitations

  • Dollar 370K-500K requires consistent done-in-one work to justify the sub-spindle and NEO premium
  • 850 mm machining length may be insufficient for long shaft work; consider the i-250S NEO
  • Sub-spindle at 15 kW limits heavy roughing on back end in titanium and Inconel
  • Programming dual-spindle cycles requires experienced operators and validated post processors
05

Best For

Aerospace manufacturers producing components requiring machining on both ends in one thermally-compensated setup Medical device shops running implants from bar stock where done-in-one reduces contamination risk Production environments running bar-fed lights-out on parts up to 65 mm diameter Defense contractors where both-end positional accuracy is mandatory Job shops upgrading from previous-generation i-200S to gain NEO advantages

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is new in the i-200S NEO vs the previous i-200S?

SmoothAi CNC with Ai Thermal Shield, redesigned compact milling head, and front-mounted tool magazine.

02 What does a new i-200S NEO cost?

Base starts around $370,000. Production setups run $430,000-$500,000.

03 i-200S NEO vs i-200ST NEO?

The i-200ST NEO adds a lower turret for simultaneous cutting, reducing cycle times 30-40% at $60,000-$80,000 more.

04 Can it run unattended?

Yes. With bar feeder, sub-spindle, parts catcher, and SmoothAi tool life management. Most shops report 6-12 hours unattended.
