Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX i-100 NEO is the latest generation of the compact INTEGREX i-100 multi-tasking platform, bringing the NEO series upgrades to the smallest machine in the INTEGREX i-series lineup. The NEO generation features the MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC with Ai Thermal Shield for active thermal compensation, a redesigned compact milling spindle head with reduced interference, and a front-mounted tool magazine for faster tool access and setup.

The i-100 NEO runs a 6-inch chuck with a maximum machining diameter of 600 mm (23.62 in) and maximum machining length of 590 mm (23.22 in). The Y-axis provides 210 mm (8.27 in) of travel for off-center milling operations. The main turning spindle delivers 18.5 kW (25 hp) at 5,000 RPM through an A2-5 spindle nose. The milling spindle operates at up to 12,000 RPM standard (20,000 RPM optional) through an HSK-A40 interface, providing full machining center capability.

The B-axis swings 240 degrees (-30 to +210 degrees) with roller cam drive and 0.0001-degree indexing resolution, enabling true 5-axis simultaneous machining. The standard ATC holds 36 tools with magazine options up to 72 tools.

Compared to the previous-generation i-100, the NEO delivers improved thermal stability during long multi-tasking cycles through the Ai Thermal Shield system. The compact milling head design reduces interference zones, expanding the effective work envelope.

The i-100 NEO competes with the DMG Mori NTX 1000 2nd Generation, Okuma Multus B200II, and Nakamura-Tome JX-200. New machines start around $290,000 with production-ready configurations running $350,000-$420,000.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • NEO generation SmoothAi CNC with Ai Thermal Shield actively compensates for thermal drift, maintaining tight tolerances on long multi-tasking cycles
  • Compact 6-inch chuck platform provides full 5-axis mill-turn capability in a smaller footprint than the i-200 NEO
  • 240-degree B-axis with roller cam drive and 0.0001-degree resolution enables complex angular milling and drilling
  • Front-mounted tool magazine improves setup ergonomics and reduces tool change time
  • 12,000 RPM HSK-A40 milling spindle delivers true machining center performance
  • Redesigned compact milling head reduces interference zones, expanding the effective work envelope

Limitations

  • 590 mm maximum machining length limits the i-100 NEO to short-to-medium parts
  • HSK-A40 milling spindle taper is smaller than HSK-A63 on larger INTEGREX models
  • 6-inch chuck restricts the machine to small-to-medium workpieces
  • Starting at $290K, requires consistent complex multi-tasking work to justify

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is new in the i-100 NEO vs the previous i-100?

SmoothAi CNC with Ai Thermal Shield, redesigned compact milling head, and front-mounted tool magazine. Larger 600 mm max diameter and 210 mm Y-axis.

02 What does a new i-100 NEO cost?

Base starts around $290,000. Production-ready setups run $350,000-$420,000.

03 Can the i-100 NEO handle titanium?

Yes, with proper tooling. The 18.5 kW main spindle provides adequate torque for titanium turning.

04 How does the i-100 NEO compare to the i-200 NEO?

The i-100 NEO uses 6-inch chuck with HSK-A40 and 590 mm length. The i-200 NEO uses 8-inch chuck with HSK-A63 and more milling power.
