Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX e-800H is the largest horizontal multi-tasking machine in Mazak's e-Series lineup, purpose-built for the most demanding large-diameter shaft and chucked workpieces in aerospace, energy, and heavy industry. With a 24 to 50-inch chuck range and 1,300 mm (51.18 in) max machining diameter, this machine handles workpieces that no other horizontal INTEGREX can accommodate.

The Y-axis travel of 800 mm (31.5 in) gives the machine its name and provides extraordinary off-center reach. Combined with bed lengths up to 5,000 mm (197 in), the e-800H can process the longest and largest shaft-type components in a single setup. The milling spindle runs to 10,000 RPM with approximately 37 kW through No. 50, Capto C8, or HSK-A100 tooling.

The B-axis provides 240 degrees of travel with roller cam drive and 0.0001-degree indexing resolution. The main turning spindle uses a built-in motor design delivering approximately 55 kW with speeds up to 2,000 RPM, optimized for the high torque needed to turn large-diameter workpieces in difficult materials. The integrated long boring bar system with tools up to 2,000 mm handles deep ID work on the largest housings and cylinders.

The standard 40-tool ATC has options for 80 and 120-tool magazines. MAZATROL SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield runs current-generation machines. Machine weight exceeds 45,000 kg (99,208 lb). Available in -S and -ST variants. New machines $1,000,000-$1,800,000. This is a foundation-intensive, purpose-built installation competing with combinations of large boring mills and VTLs.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,300 mm (51 in) max machining diameter is the largest horizontal INTEGREX, handling workpieces no other model can swing
  • 800 mm (31.5 in) Y-axis travel provides the most off-center reach in any horizontal multi-tasking machine
  • 24-50 inch chuck range accommodates the widest variety of large-diameter workpieces in this class
  • Bed lengths up to 5,000 mm handle extremely long shaft work in a single setup, eliminating multiple operations
  • Integrated long boring bar system with 2,000 mm tools handles the deepest ID work on large housings and cylinders
  • Replaces combinations of large boring mills, VTLs, and 5-axis mills with a single platform

Limitations

  • $1M-$1.8M investment requires sustained large-format high-value work to justify capital outlay
  • 45,000+ kg machine weight requires extensive foundation engineering, heavy rigging, and dedicated utility infrastructure
  • 2,000 RPM main spindle is torque-optimized for large-diameter work; not suited for high-speed small-diameter turning
  • Lead times of 12-24 months for new machines are standard at this specification level

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does a new e-800H cost?

Base configuration starts around $1,000,000. Long-bed production setups with expanded tool magazine, boring bar system, and sub-spindle run $1.4M-$1.8M. Used units are rare; when available they trade $400K-$800K depending on condition and configuration.

02 e-800H vs e-670H?

The e-800H is larger: 51 vs 42 inch max diameter, 31.5 vs 26.4 inch Y-axis, 24-50 vs 18-32 inch chuck. Bed extends to 5,000 mm vs 4,000 mm. Choose e-800H only when parts exceed the e-670H's capacity, as the cost premium is substantial.

03 Can it replace a boring mill?

For most applications with internal features up to 2,000 mm depth, yes. The e-800H adds turning and 5-axis milling that boring mills lack. For the very deepest bores or workpieces exceeding 51 inches, a dedicated large boring mill may still be needed.

04 Foundation requirements?

Professionally engineered reinforced concrete for 45,000+ kg plus workpiece weight. Foundation engineering is included in Mazak quotation. Plan 6-12 months for foundation work. Overhead crane rated for workpiece weight mandatory.
