Overview
The Brother Speedio M300X3 is the larger multi-tasking mill-turn model in Brother's third-generation X3 Speedio lineup. It combines a 300 mm turning diameter with full milling capability in a compact platform, offering an updated control and refined dynamics over the prior XD1 generation.
X/Y/Z travels are 300 x 440 x 305 mm. The milling spindle runs at 16,000 rpm with 7.5 kW on BT30 taper. A C-axis turning spindle handles parts up to 300 mm in diameter. The 21-tool turret delivers fast tool changes to support efficient mill-turn cycles.
Rapids are 50 m/min on X/Y and 56 m/min on Z. The Brother CNC-C00 control handles simultaneous mill-turn operations including C-axis contouring and live tooling. Machine weight is approximately 3,300 kg.
The X3 generation introduced further servo refinements and expanded control functionality for more complex mill-turn programming relative to XD1 machines. This makes the M300X3 well-suited for parts that previously required two separate machines.
The M300X3 targets shops producing medium-size rotational and prismatic parts where combining turning and milling operations saves cycle time and reduces part handling.
New machines price $150,000-$200,000. Used units trade $70,000-$120,000.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- X3 generation delivers refined servo dynamics over prior XD1 mill-turns
- 300 mm turning diameter handles most medium-size rotational parts
- Combined mill-turn eliminates part transfer and reduces setup time
- C-axis contouring for complex mill-turn features in one program
- CNC-C00 supports simultaneous 5-axis mill-turn operations
- Competitive price versus full multitasking machines from Mazak or DMG Mori
Limitations
- 300 mm turning diameter is modest compared to dedicated CNC lathes
- BT30 milling spindle limits depth of cut in hard materials
- Turning capability is secondary to milling focus of the platform
- 21-tool turret may limit complex programs needing many tools
- Not a replacement for a full-size multitasking machine on large parts
