Takamaz Takamaz XT-6M

The Takamaz XT-6M is the live-tooling variant of the compact XT-6 CNC precision lathe, adding 12-station turret capability with powered tools spinning at 4,000 RPM. Where the standard XT-6 handles pure turning operations, the XT-6M enables cross-drilling, tapping, and light milling directly on the lathe — eliminating the need to move parts to a secondary machining center for off-center features.

The 6-inch collet chuck and 4,500 RPM spindle (optional 6,000 RPM) with 7.5/5.5 kW of power through a 75 mm bearing bore deliver the same high-speed turning performance as the standard XT-6. The key upgrade is the 12-station turret with 6 live tool positions capable of 4,000 RPM rotation, handling drill sizes up to 10 mm and taps up to M6. This transforms a simple turning machine into a capable mill-turn platform for parts requiring both rotational and prismatic features.

With 120 mm of X-travel and 265 mm of Z-travel (slightly shorter than the XT-6's 280 mm to accommodate the larger turret mechanism), the XT-6M maintains a generous work envelope for its compact size. The footprint remains identical to the XT-6 at 1,360 x 1,370 mm, meaning shops can upgrade from turning-only to mill-turn capability without allocating additional floor space. Rapid traverse rates match the XT-6 at 18 m/min on X and 24 m/min on Z.

The Fanuc 0i-TF Plus control handles both turning and milling operations seamlessly, with C-axis interpolation for angular positioning of cross-drilled and tapped features. The XT-6M integrates with Takamaz's gantry loader systems for automated production, making it suitable for high-volume parts that previously required two machines and an operator to transfer between them.
