Overview
The DN Solutions PV 9300 is a heavy-duty vertical turning center positioned between the PUMA V 8300 and VT 1100 in DN Solutions' vertical turning lineup. With a max turning diameter of 930 mm (36.6 in) and a 21-inch chuck, it targets large disc and ring-type parts that exceed the V 8300's 830 mm capacity but don't need the VT 1100's full 1,100 mm swing.
The spindle delivers 37 kW (50 hp) at 1,600 RPM with 2,900 Nm (2,139 ft-lbs) of torque through the 21-inch chuck. That combination of power and torque handles aggressive roughing on large-diameter castings, forgings, and plate stock. The 1,600 RPM top speed is well-matched to the typical part diameters this machine handles — at 930 mm diameter, you get good surface speed for finishing passes.
Axis travels span 535 mm on X and 700 mm on Z, with 18 m/min rapid traverse on both axes. Max turning height of 700 mm (27.6 in) keeps this firmly in disc and short cylinder territory. The 12-station turret provides ample tooling positions for multi-operation parts. Machine weight comes in at approximately 14,000 kg (30,865 lb) with a footprint of 2,800 mm x 3,000 mm.
The PV 9300 fills an important niche. Many shops have parts in the 830-930 mm range that force them to use a VBM because the V 8300 can't reach. The PV 9300 handles these parts on a more productive, more compact platform than a VBM. The vertical orientation provides the same advantages as the rest of the PUMA V family: gravity-assisted loading, natural chip evacuation, and straightforward crane access from above. Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 930 mm max turning diameter bridges the gap between the V 8300 (830 mm) and VT 1100 (1,100 mm)
- 37 kW spindle with 2,900 Nm torque provides heavy roughing authority on large castings and forgings
- 21-inch chuck offers secure clamping on heavy, large-diameter workpieces
- Vertical orientation provides gravity-assisted loading and excellent chip evacuation on heavy parts
- More compact and productive than a VBM for parts in the 830-930 mm diameter range
- 14,000 kg machine mass delivers rigidity for stable, chatter-free cutting on heavy workpieces
Limitations
- 1,600 RPM max spindle speed is lower than the V 8300's 2,000 RPM — limits surface speed on smaller features
- 700 mm max turning height restricts the machine to disc, ring, and short cylindrical workpieces only
- 14,000 kg weight requires a properly engineered foundation with adequate load-bearing capacity
- 3,900 mm machine height requires high ceiling clearance and crane access for loading
- No live tooling in the base PV 9300 — see the PV 9300 M for milling capability

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The PV 9300 steps up to 930 mm turning diameter (vs 830 mm), a 21-inch chuck (vs 15-inch), and 2,900 Nm torque (vs 2,592 Nm). It's built for the next size class of parts. The trade-off is a larger footprint, more weight, and higher price. Choose the V 8300 if your parts fit within 830 mm.
02
New PV 9300 machines typically price between $300,000 and $450,000 depending on configuration. Hydraulic fixture packages, chip management systems, and tool monitoring options affect final pricing.
03
For parts up to 930 mm diameter, yes. The PV 9300 is more compact, more productive, and less expensive than most VBMs. For parts above 930 mm, you still need a VBM or the larger VT 1100. The key advantage is cycle time — the PV 9300 is a production machine, while most VBMs are designed for flexibility on larger work.
04
The base PV 9300 is a 2-axis turning center. The PV 9300 M adds live tooling and a C-axis for drilling, tapping, and milling operations without moving the part to a secondary machine. Choose the M variant when your parts need bolt holes, keyways, or other milled features.
